As the weather and our thoughts turn to Fall, here are some hints from our Garden Journal to help you winterize your garden.

Still have green tomatoes in your garden? Pick them before the first frost and ripen inside in a cool place.

Start a worm bin so that you can continue to compost food scraps indoors throughout the winter months.

This is a good time to amend your soil but avoid adding nitrogen-rich fertilizer at this point in the season, as it will leach out of the soil by next year

Need more garden space? Consider areas where you could expand or place new beds.

A windless, cold, clear night in October usually means a killing frost. If one is coming, protect vulnerable plants and do your last harvesting of summer crops.
