Grow Pittsburgh’s Mission, Vision and Values are essential to our work and the lens through which we make all key decisions from program development and evaluation to human resources and hiring.
Our mission is to teach people how to grow food and promote the benefits gardens bring to our neighborhoods.
We envision the day when everyone in our city and region grows and eats fresh, local and healthy food.
Prioritizing neighborhood voices to guide programs
Making responsible and effective use of available resources
Understanding systems of privilege, oppression, and racism, and using this knowledge to drive our work
Using, teaching and advocating for restorative practices
Supporting everyone’s right to access, produce and distribute healthy and culturally appropriate food
Being accountable by using clear, direct and inclusive communication
Working alongside communities to build access and power for all
Creating hands-on opportunities to build individual and community self-sufficiency
At Grow Pittsburgh, we believe that everyone in our city and region should have the opportunity to grow and eat local, healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate food. We make gardening accessible for home, school, and community gardeners and urban farmers.
All are welcome at our farm sites, office and Garden Resource Center. We want to make sure that everyone can experience and enjoy our programs and sites. If you need any specific accommodations to visit or tour any of our sites, please contact Rebekah Jenkins, Director of Operations at email@example.com, 412-362-4769 ext. 200.
