Buy Our Goods
At both our Braddock and North Point Breeze locations, a team of Grow Pittsburgh farm managers, assistants, apprentices, youth, and volunteers farms through the season to supply fresh-grown produce to city residents.
Most of our produce is sold through farm stands in the neighborhoods where our farm stands are located. We sell additional produce through Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance, and directly to E2 and The Cafe at the Frick.
Grow Pittsburgh operates two independent farm stands:
Braddock Farm Stand
Intersection of Braddock Ave. and 6th St.
June – Oct.
Shiloh Farm Stand
Intersection of Thomas Blvd. and Homewood Ave.
mid-June – mid-Oct.
We also sell biweekly at the Homewood Farmers Market.
Homewood Farmers Market
House of Manna Worship Center, West Parking Lot
7240 Frankstown Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15208
Biweekly, Saturdays, 10:00-2:00
2016 Dates: July 2, July 16, July 30, Aug 13, Aug 27, Sept 10, Sept 24, Oct 8, Oct 22, Nov 12, Dec 10
All of our farm stands seek to serve the communities surrounding our farm sites. We accept Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program checks and EBT/SNAP payments and produce is priced affordably or on a sliding scale.
Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance
Grow Pittsburgh is a farmer member of Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance, a farmer-run cooperative that sells locally grown produce in the city. Working with PCFA offers many benefits, including reaching a large number of restaurants and individual customers, delivering our produce to only one pick-up location, and partnering with rural Western PA farmers. If you are a restaurant interested in purchasing our produce, please contact Penn’s Corner for information on their deliveries at 412-363-1971.
Grow Pittsburgh sells surplus produce from our production sites directly to E2 on Bryant St. in Highland Park. Delivering produce directly to a restaurant enables our assistants and apprentices to experience an additional form of marketing and develop a working relationship with chef/owner Kate Romane. Look for our produce on E2’s lush, seasonal menu!
Cafe at the Frick
At The Frick Pittsburgh, in Point Breeze, we grow food on site in a beautiful, historic glass greenhouse and kitchen garden.Chef Seth Bailey selects a portion of this produce to supply The Cafe at the Frick. Stop by to explore the greenhouse and gardens, then enjoy a tasty meal at the cafe!
Through our partnership with the Frick Art & Historical Center, Grow Pittsburgh grows seedlings at the Frick Greenhouse.
Our seedlings are offered for sale to the general public and to our garden programs through grant funding each year. We offer a variety of vegetable, herb and some flower seedlings as part of our effort to encourage individuals to grow their own food, and experiment with unique and diverse varieties of crops.
Our 2016 seedling sale has ended. We’ll offer our wide range of high quality seedlings again in 2017, from late Apr. through mid-June. Please check back in early spring 2017 for more details.
