The City Growers team has been busy working with Western Pennsylvania Conservancy to complete projects for the Community Garden Sustainability Fund. Fencing and water systems are the most common projects – this includes deer and groundhog fencing, rain barrels, water catchment and irrigation. The CG/WPC team has also been organizing volunteer days, testing soil, ordering signage, developing and installing compost systems and delivering materials like gravel, compost and wood chips.
If you think these projects would help increase the sustainability of your community garden, consider applying for next year’s Sustainability Fund! Get in touch with Jess, Marisa or Ray with any questions and look for the application in the spring!
