Participants will partake in an exploration of paper-making processes and Japanese knotweed invasion history while creating sheets of handmade paper using sustainable practices. Participants of all ages will assist in beating garden waste and invasive plant fibers to a pulp! They will also make sheets of paper by hand and embellish the paper with a collection of choice natural materials as well as textures and collage materials. The “wet on wet” collage methods are tactile and spontaneous, and everything is held together with natural science, not glue! Each participant will go home with several sheets of handmade paper. Although they will be wet, each paper creation will travel home safely inside a recycled folder to dry overnight.
