Community Outreach & Building People Power for Community Gardens

February 20 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$10

Community Outreach & Building People Power for Community Gardens (part of the Grow Pittsburgh “How to Start a Community Garden” series – originally created for new garden groups, but now meant for both new and experienced community gardeners): Alongside tending to the garden, building people power is a constant task for community gardens. It can feel overwhelming to invite folks to events, seek out volunteers for laborious garden projects, keep regular contact with garden members, and tell the garden’s story to the larger community all at once. Learn to create a simple outreach strategy and set up multifaceted outreach routines specific to your needs, so that you can make your community garden as welcoming, accessible, energized, and well-supported as it can be. This workshop is an opportunity to hear from Grow Pittsburgh’s Community Projects team, share your own experiences, connect with other community gardeners, and plan some concrete next steps for any community garden outreach that you’re working on. You’re welcome to attend whether you’re dreaming about a future community garden or entering another year as a seasoned community gardener–or anywhere in between.
