We’d like to welcome back our three stellar Garden Educators for the 2014-2015 school year! Courtney Thrall, Molly McHolme and Jim Rowell are all now part-time staff members with Grow PIttsburgh and we couldn’t be more excited for another year with them on our team.

Fall in the Edible Schoolyard means three things: Back to School nights, school gardens full of ripe produce and Chef in the Garden! Our annual Chef in the Garden event is not only an 8 year tradition, but a student, teacher and parent favorite year after year. We invite local chefs to come into our school gardens to cook school produce outside with students during the school day. Kids then sample the delicious, local, fresh creation (and usually ask for seconds- and thirds). Stay tuned for updates and photos later this month!

Edible Schoolyard Pittsburgh is currently looking for reliable, long-term volunteers to join our Garden Educators for fall garden lessons in our partner elementary schools. Please check out our Volunteer Description and contact us if you’d like to dig, harvest, taste and grow with local kids!
