This year we’re partnering with Dancing Gnome Brewery to help you get in the gardening spirit. We’re pleased to announce a monthly Garden Tool beer series, proceeds of which support Grow Pittsburgh.

Bypass Pruner is the second in our Garden Tool beer series collaboration with Dancing Gnome Brewery.  If you missed the first beer, don’t fret, there are many more on the way! Each month brings a new craft beer named after a handy garden tool, with artwork by Camp Copeland Studio and a bit of helpful info from our staff. Whether you have acres outside of the city, some raised beds in the suburbs, or a small porch set up in the city, we want to give you the tools and know-how you need to grow thriving gardens. So learn more about these Garden Tool beers and their namesakes and enjoy the brews, available for a limited time.

About the beer: Bypass Pruner is a 6.8% hazy IPA brewed with healthy portions of unmalted barley to showcase the effect the grain has on flavor and mouthfeel. It is well-hopped with Simcoe, Amarillo, Ella, and Lotus for sticky notes of lemon peel, orange blossom, tropical sorbet, and pine sap.

Bypass Pruner is brewed with a healthy portion of unmalted barley, this 6.8% IPA is soft with notes of lemon zest, summer yard work, orange spritz and spring rain.

About the tool: Bypass pruning shears can be used for many things in the garden. They’re ideal for pruning small branches on trees and bushes, cutting fresh flowers and herbs, and trimming back woody weeds and vines.

You can find Bypass Pruners and other tools featured in this series at our Garden Resource Center, which re-opens for the season on March 19.
