Make your voice heard Tuesday, March 24 at 4 p.m.!

Grow Pittsburgh Supporters,

As many of you know, the City of Pittsburgh is considering significant amendments to the urban agriculture zoning code that will make it easier to grow food in our city, as well as increase opportunities to keep bees, chickens, goats and more, depending on property size.

The public hearing for these proposed changes is Tuesday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. The Code is later on the agenda, around 4:00 p.m. The hearing will take place downtown, at 200 Ross Street on the first floor. Enter the revolving doors and make a right and you’ll see the room. We’d love for you to attend to show your support and/or testify!

For your information, we’ve included a PDF with a simple explanation of the components of the new code.

If you’re interested in testifying, please bring a statement that is no more than 3 minutes long, explaining how changes to the code will benefit you and/or the city. It’s best to focus on the aspects of the code that relate to your work and how you feel it will help you do your job and enhance the community or your home life. Genuine and from the heart is best! If you’re unable to make the meeting but would like to make a statement, please submit a written statement (find a template here) that is also no longer than 3 minutes to Dolores Hanna at  dolores.hanna@pittsburghpa.gov by March 23rd, the day before the hearing.

If you have any questions about the code or the public meeting, please don’t hesitate to call our offices at 412.362.4769 or email info@growpittsburgh.org. Thanks in advance for your support of urban agriculture!
