The Great Garden Giveaway is back! Pittsburgh-based law firm Leech Tishman, the Office of the Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner, Grow Pittsburgh and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank have once again joined forces to present the Great Garden Giveaway.

The Great Garden Giveaway provides eligible community members with vegetable plants and seeds, as well as gardening demonstrations and advice to successfully grow their own produce. The giveaways will take place in conjunction with the Food Bank’s Produce to People program, which brings produce and fresh food to low-income neighborhoods.

Now in its fifth year, the Great Garden Giveaway has helped hundreds of residents to grow their own produce. In 2014, 86 percent of participants successfully harvested food from what they received in the Great Garden Giveaway.

Sponsors for this year include:
Johnny’s Selected Seeds, Organic Mechanics Potting Soil, Evey True Value Hardware, Blackberry Meadows Farm, Brenckle’s Farms & Greenhouses, Soergel Orchards and the Chatham University Falk School of Sustainability.
