Garden Get Down

October 7, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$20 – $75

Join us for the return of Grow Pittsburgh’s annual event. This year we reflect upon and celebrate the many ways that growing and sharing fresh local food are helping our community get through this prolonged, challenging time.

Enjoy a taste of the fall harvest from 9 Cafe, tasty treats from Confections by Casey Renee, local drinks from East End Brewing Co. and Goodlander Cocktail Brewery, and music as we honor the many positive impacts our members, staff, and partner organizations have made possible. Mingle under an outdoor pavilion with a diverse community and learn more about the vital work of helping people learn how to grow food and share in the many benefits gardens and urban farms bring to our neighborhoods.

Garden Get Down is a fundraiser with sliding scale tickets. Please give as generously as you can. All proceeds benefit Grow Pittsburgh’s work to teach people how to grow food and promote the benefits gardens bring to our neighborhoods.

Parking is available onsite. Get Directions. Sherwood Event Center is accessible by bus via the 69-Trafford.

Sherwood Event Center is an ADA accessible venue.

Garden Get Down is a rain or shine event. The pavilion at Sherwood Event Center provides some cover, but please come prepared and bring an umbrella if you think it will be necessary.

This event is all ages but children must be accompanied by an adult.

COVID Protocols:

This is an outdoor event; we will follow current Allegheny County, state, and federal COVID-19 guidelines at the date of the event. Protocols may be updated as conditions change. Our goal is to help ensure a safe and enjoyable Garden Get Down for all.

We are paying close attention to COVID-19 and related public health guidance to help ensure a safe and enjoyable Garden Get Down for all guests. As an extra precaution, we will be requiring that all event attendees either:

  • confirm that you’re fully vaccinated for COVID-19
  • or provide a negative COVID test result within 72 hours of the event for entry.

Pre-event COVID Screening: All guests must complete this short COVID screening survey. Please complete the survey prior to the event for the smoothest registration and arrival. It should only take 2 minutes or less to complete.

    • If you have not completed the survey in advance, you will be asked to complete it at the welcome table
    • As always, please stay home if you have had any known exposures to COVID-19 (unless you have tested negative) or if you have been experiencing any symptoms
      • Anyone who needs to cancel for these reasons will receive a full refund
    • Our staff will pull survey results Thursday morning, so if you have not completed a survey by then, you will need to complete one upon arrival. But please do this online in advance to ensure a smooth registration process!

Negative COVID Test: If you are not vaccinated for COVID-19, when you registered, you agreed to bring proof of a negative test taken within 72 hours of the event. This test result will be required for entry. Thank you for cooperating. Children aged 2-11 must wear masks, but negative tests will not be required for children under 12.

Masks Encouraged: If you are indoors at any time, such as the restrooms, masks will be required so please bring one with you.

    • Children under 12 are asked to wear masks (unless eating or drinking)
    • Anyone is welcome to wear masks outside

Hand Sanitizer: Will be readily available

Distancing:  Please respect that everyone has varying levels of comfort and risk factors. There is adequate space at the venue to move about without crowding.

What to Expect:
  • This event is all ages but children must be accompanied by an adult and wear a mask.
  • The Soil Health Education (SHED) cart will be there with dirt-based screenprinting activities. Dirt is beautiful!
  • Outdoor Venue: Hosting this event outdoors in the fresh autumn air has plenty of benefits. But an outdoor venue can also offer surprises.
    • In case of rain: This event will be hosted rain or shine. We’ll have some coverage in case of rain, but please come prepared and bring an umbrella if you think it will be necessary. Much of the pavilion is protected by a roof, but a heavy rain could drip through the areas covered by wisteria arbor.
