Garden Ceramics Workshop: Ollas
April 22, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm$25
What is an Olla you ask? It’s an unglazed vessel used to irrigate your garden or household plants. Just place it in your garden bed and fill it with water. The water seeps through the walls of the vessel and reaches the roots of the plants. It’s an efficient way to water your garden because very little water is lost to evaporation or run-off.
In a two hour, artist-led workshop you will learn how to use the coil-building method to hand-build your very own olla using red earthenware clay. No prior experience with clay is necessary, we’ll guide you through every step of the process. Past workshop participants have said that their ollas work well in their gardens and have been durable enough to last over the years.
Grow Pittsburgh members receive free admission to the class, but there is a $15 materials charge.
