Garden Dreams is Grow Pittsburgh’s fourth and newest production site, located in Wilkinsburg. This urban farm and plant nursery, owned by Grow Pittsburgh co-founder Mindy Schwartz, has been a treasure in the local urban agriculture community for nearly 20 years. Retaining the same name and now under the ownership of Allegheny Land Trust, Garden Dreams will provide seedlings for gardeners beginning in spring 2020, while implementing plans to build as many as three new greenhouses on the site. A re-developed and community land trust-protected Garden Dreams location will serve as an education and workforce development site for young and emerging urban farmers, a gathering space for community events, and an essential food-growing resource for generations to come. The new greenhouse space will host a workshare program with urban farmers in the region and bolster organic seedling production.
