Garden Dreams is Grow Pittsburgh’s fourth and newest production site, located at 806 Holland Ave in Wilkinsburg. This urban farm and plant nursery, previously owned and operated as a private business by Grow Pittsburgh co-founder Mindy Schwartz, has been a treasure in the local urban agriculture community for nearly 20 years. In December 2019, Schwartz donated the property to Allegheny Land Trust to own and preserve with Grow Pittsburgh partnering to run the urban farm and nursery operations. Construction of two new community greenhouses and renovations of existing buildings are set to begin in October 2020.
The redeveloped Garden Dreams site will be an urban agricultural hub that will be home to a collaborative urban farmer workshare program, a youth job training and farmers market program, a retail seedling business, and an educational workshop series that will support the strong network of gardeners and urban farmers throughout our community.
