Every day, more and more people are recognizing the value and benefit of growing their own food.
Grow Pittsburgh’s educational programs seek to assist individuals in all stages of life in broadening and deepening their knowledge of our food system and where our food comes from, in the context of urban agriculture.
Through our work with local elementary schools, we use physical gardens to teach children valuable lessons about science and math. We believe the garden provides an opportunity for hands on demonstration of many school subjects, and often this is how children learn best. Through our work with teenagers, we use our farm production sites to introduce young people to the challenges and benefits of improving land within the communities where they live, as well as provide them with much-needed summer employment. Finally, we educate adults in a variety of ways. Whether you are an aspiring home gardener or an aspiring farmer, we offer opportunities to enhance your skills.
