Since 2008, Grow Pittsburgh has exchanged produce for the use of this formerly vacant lot at the corner of Homewood Ave. and Thomas Blvd. in Point Breeze. We’ve converted the lot into a small urban farm, complete with in-ground production beds, herbs and flowers to draw beneficial insects, figs, and raspberries. There’s also a large solar array on site, which feeds into the neighboring home. Stop by to look around, or schedule a tour by clicking here!
At Shiloh Farm we use organic growing techniques to grow produce, which primarily supplies our on-site farm stand, as well as our farmers market stand at the Homewood Farmers Market. The Shiloh Farm Stand is open weekly on Thursdays laparkan.com/buy-prednisone/ from June through Oct., 3:00-6:00. The Homewood Farmers Market is at 7240 Frankstown Ave., biweekly from June 4 through Oct.22, then Nov. 12 and Dec.10, 10:00-2:00. We keep our pricing low to increase food access, and those who can pay more are encouraged to do so. Shiloh Farm sells additional produce through Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance and to the Cafe at the Frick.
Shiloh Farm, in conjunction with the Frick greenhouse and kitchen garden, serves as a site for assistants and apprentices to learn about and try out small-scale urban farming techniques. Many other school and community groups use the site for tours, activities and workdays. Stop by and peruse the garden anytime!
