Buy Grow Pittsburgh's Seedlings!

Thinking about starting your own vegetable garden?

Purchasing Grow Pittsburgh’s plant seedlings is a great way to diversify your budding garden while supporting local sustainable agriculture.

Even in the dead of winter Grow Pittsburgh staff is hard at work in the greenhouse at The Frick growing vegetables for our partner restaurants and starting seedlings for the next season. These seedlings are then planted at Grow Pittsburgh’s farm sites, donated to various community gardens, or sold to the public at several locations around Pittsburgh. We offer a wide variety of seedlings including; heirloom tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and some specialty fruits, vegetables, and herbs such as; strawberries, asparagus, and lemon verbena. A full list of our 2012 seedling availability can be found here. Although the seedlings are not certified organic they are grown according to national organic guidelines.

Ready to purchase your seedlings but in need of some guidance as far as planting, care, and harvest? Here's a handy guidebook for all of the seedlings we have available this year!

Beginning May 1,2012 our seedlings will be available for purchase until mid June at the Frick Greenhouse.  Our spring seedlings (leafy greens, herbs and strawberries) will be on sale at the start of our seedling sale as they are bit hardier and can withstand a spring frost. A few weeks later starting May 11th our summer vegetable seedlings (heirloom tomatoes, peppers and eggplants) will also become available to correspond with our zone 6A frost date.

Grow Pittsburgh seedlings can be purchased at the Frick Greenhouse in Point Breeze Tuesday - Sunday between 10am & 5pm as well as at local Grow Pittsburgh partners; Today’s Market in Oakmont, The Urban Gardener in the North Side and Nature's Way in Greensburg.
