ADULT INTERN PROGRAM

  FARM SYSTEMS TRAINING PROGRAM

 Call for Interns

FILLED FOR 2008!  PLEASE CHECK BACK NEXT YEAR!

Grow Pittsburgh's Farm Systems Training Program offers intensive hands-on urban farm training to adult interns who are considering a career in urban agriculture and want to learn all aspects of the business from planting and harvesting to marketing and promotion.

Internships are six months in length, April 15 to October 15, and require an average commitment of 30 hours per week.  Participants receive a stipend of $4,800.

Interns are not required to have previous agricultural experience or a post-secondary education.  Skills are learned on the job within the context of a working farm.

The Training Program is based at Braddock Farms, Grow Pittsburgh's demonstration farm and social enterprise located just outside of Pittsburgh in the historic, post-industrial community of Braddock.  Interns will also have the opportunity to learn different farming techniques through our Edible Schoolyard and Frick Greenhouse Projects.  [We encourage applicants to read about all these projects on our website before applying.]
