Grow Pittsburgh offers a variety of learning opportunities.
We offer a wide range of workshops for backyard gardeners, from organic gardening basics to building raised beds to urban chicken keeping. If you’ve ever wondered about medicinal herbs in your garden or how to plant your own container garden, our workshops are for you. Workshops are free for Grow Pittsburgh members and $10 for members of the general public.
Grow Pittsburgh also offers educational training programs to youth and young adults. Through the Urban Farmers in Training program, local teens get summer employment and learn about growing and eating healthy food.
Our Urban Farm Apprenticeship is for young adults in the communities surrounding our production sites. Participants spend 12 weeks learning all aspects of running a farm, and take part in weekly off-farm educational workshops and field trips.
